I have some suggestions here:
For big scale:
I recommend to the government to provide funding 1) for research into
the Buddha's teachings, which are about mind (like this),
the truth about ending all sufferings permanently, etc. and 2) to spread
what is found to everyone to have more understanding of what the Buddha
taught around 2,500 years ago. The Buddha's discovery is the greatest
discovery of mankind. It's for all human beings, not for any specific
religion. (It made me think again that we should not think of Buddhism
as a religion. It's just the greatest discovery
for all beings by a man, a human being like you.)
In detail, for examples: Use your intelligent people from your
existing organization like NASA or Pentagon to do the research I mentioned
above. It can start from a small project with a small fund of 1% of
total fund the organization receives. And when your own intelligent
people find that it's very interesting as I or some group of people
claimed, then put more fund to the project and more people, more technology,
etc. to do anything like proving what the Buddha taught is the way of
ending all sufferings permanently, it's not a made up story or a fiction.
We have Theravada Buddhist scriptures and call collections of Theravada
Buddhist scriptures that Tipitaka. It's in Pali language originally.
The Pali Tipitaka in Thai script contains 45 volumes; 22,379 pages;
84,000 sections of teaching. It's really HUGE, especially compare with
Bible. The voluminous Tipitaka is estimated to be about eleven times
the size of the Bible. The collection of the Buddha's teachings is mainly
categorized by the length of the Buddha's teachings.
It should have better ways to categorize the teachings that will help
people more efficiently. (We have Buddhist texts from other sources
too, not only Theravada. However, Theravada texts are widely considered
as the most complete and valid version of the Buddha's teaching.)
Your intelligent people can create the most inclusive
computer database of the Buddha's teaching that can be searched
from different angles. For examples, by questions: if someone want to
know how many kinds of meditation that the Buddha taught, what those
meditation are in detail, what kind of meditation that fit my personality,
what the Buddha's taught most often, what the Buddha taught about the
universe, or the examples of real people getting enlightenment, the
computer can generate lists, which help that person save a lot of time,
don't have to find answers by reading the huge texts himself/herself
and maybe even that the person can't get the answer.
Also, your scientists should be able to study Arahant, one who
has reached total liberation/one who has been totally transformed. Scientists
should find something that will be benefit to mankind from the perfect
human being.
We are very lucky to still be able to find what the Buddha taught 2500
years ago and
Arahants still exist. We should hurry to do something before
we can't find the Buddha's teaching and no Arahant in this world.
After that is to spread out the Buddha's teaching:
Your professional people can design campaigns to be launched through
media such campaigns as "Meditation:
The gift from nature
truly", or "Go
for Enlightenment", or "Let
start changing the future from yourself". Put the Buddha's
teaching in school's curriculum, issue a law so that people have longer
weekend (start with one
more holiday in each month) to have time to look into
one own inside what the true cause of all sufferings and to
practice Dhamma, which needs high effort, create television series
about the ultimate
truth, Enlightenment, wisdom, Meditation, compassion, or various
important teachings leading to truth and peace, provide places that
people can go to learn and do meditation such
as in library, stop TV broadcasting between 6-7:30 pm. because
we really need to reduce the amount of delusion; this will help improve
relationship in family too because it will stop media from stealing
the priceless time from our families, etc.
The government will be the organization that
has 2 main things to do for their people:
1) Help solve problems of people in the country as the government is
doing now.
2) Provide tools or anything that will help people to help themselves
reach enlightenment to end all suffering permanently. Because the
ultimate solution must start from people individually.
If the government can do this, it will be the first government in history
of mankind!
[Another
suggestion from me, the government need
to solve problem sincerely. If it has to make things complicated, let
it be, if it needs to be. Don't try to ignore problems.
For example, Internet. I heard some people learn making bomb from Internet
or girls ran away to strangers whom they
knew from Internet, and much more... , including bad pornography (like
children, incest, rape, ...) How can the government let this happen
(again and again)? There is no control (or there is?) Gov. need to set
up an agency to take care negative sides of this new technology. Don't
let those big Internet related companies lure people and make a lot
of money by keep showing only good sides all over media. Gov. can take
money from those companies by use special taxes. The more Internet-related
cases happen in our country, the more taxes those companies have to
pay to the agency to do whatever is necessary. Gov. need to issue more
laws/Bills related to each case happening in order not to happen again.
Another idea, now we have to pay around $20 monthly to use Internet.
For this prize, the Internet should have only nice, beautiful, useful,
and peaceful things and clean entertainment. If anyone want to be able
to access to something more exciting/violence that can cause danger
to our society, they may be able to have it but they have to pay more
(may be $50 monthly) and need to be registered for each category. So
when there is a crime, the police can focus more on those people who
have access to those related topics. The agency I mentioned above will
have many many things to do to deal with the new technology.
As I said, if it's complicated, let it be, if it needs to be. Or else
we will be like a
spider trapped by its own web.
In fact, this is what we are now. Do
this for people who still attach to delusion. When they study the Buddha's
teachings more and practice more, they will gradually detach from their
insatiable craving, hatred, and delusion. Finally and hopefully, they
will get enlightenment.
Maybe we need to establish a testing area/community. Some people,
when they see the good results of the testing society, they will come
to join, some people who don't like it, just leave them. They
know the time for what they are supposed to do by themselves.]
For small scale:
Individually try to slow down keeping searching happiness from outside
or from objects (not too much materialism,
it's endless, DON'T YOU SEE IT? some
words from the Buddha 2500 years ago)
and look into ourselves, practicing meditation, understand the truths
that you can find from the Buddha's teaching or from your own wisdom.
Try to avoid being under delusion that is around you, especially in
media.
